There will be disruptions to rail transport services across South Africa on 13 March after unions confirmed a nationwide strike in protest over "unilateral" plans to restructure the parastatal transport agency Transnet. In Cape Town commuter rail service provider Metrorail, a Transnet subsidiary, has said it will be running a limited service but is advising passengers to make alternative arrangements. For full details of services and updates see the regional Metrorail website www.capemetrorail.co.za. Transport workers unions have also announced a march on parliament starting in Keizersgracht in Cape Towns city centre at midday.
