Preparations are underway for the 2008 African Cup of Nations football tournament, which takes place in Ghana from 20 January-10 February 2008. Local organizing committee representatives have met with vice chancellors and principals of selected tertiary institutions across the country to discuss the possibility of using their hostels and halls of residence for visiting supporters. There are also plans to set up basic campsites for fans in the four host cities, Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Sekondi.

Meanwhile the committee has also been working with international sports marketing company Sportfive to boost the capacity of the local media to cover the event. To this end Ghana news agency reports that personnel from the country
