The African Photo Retrospective 2005/06 award organised by the foreign correspondents association of East Africa (FCAEA) has been won by Nairobi-based freelance photographer Georgina Cranston with her photograph of a southern Sudanese man drinking water from the Aquem river near Malual Kon, north of Bahr er Gazal in southern Sudan. The image can be viewed until 18 February 2007 as part of an exhibition at the Alliance Francaise in Nairobi presenting the pick of photographs of Africa taken by professional photographers over the last couple of years. The work in the exhibition is being auctioned to raise money to support the work of local photographers. FCAEA represents correspondents and freelance media professionals working in the East Africa and Horn of Africa regions. It currently has about 300 members.
