Airtel collaborates with Ghana National Museum

Telecommunications company Airtel Ghana is collaborating with Friends of the Museum, a non-profit organisation established to promote the National Museum of Ghana.

Through its 3.75G network, Airtel will create a wifi zone within the museum grounds and establish an Airtel Money service to allow visitors to access banking services via their mobile phones and to facilitate public donations to the museum.

The principal role of Friends of the National Museum is to assist with the institution's development and to encourage public interest in the protection of Ghana’s cultural heritage, through research, voluntary expert service, collaboration and educational programmes.

Opened in 1957, the National Museum of Ghana is the largest and oldest of the museums under the administration of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB), the legal custodian of Ghana’s material cultural heritage.
