The second edition of the All African Leather Fair is due to take place in Addis Ababa from 20-22 January 2009. The fair, designed to promote the African leather industry, will bring together tanners, footwear and other leather goods manufacturers, equipment, technology and chemicals suppliers, training institutions and trade promotion organizations from all over the continent and beyond. The 2008 edition saw participation from 63 overseas and 107 local companies and had 1,525 international and 2,400 local visitors.

The fair will coincide with the 17th international United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s (UNIDO) Leather and Leather Products Industry Panel, which is also due to meet in the Ethiopian capital.

Ethiopia is the largest livestock producer in Africa and leather is the second highest foreign exchange earner after coffee.
