Some international flights will be able to use Arusha municipal airport (ARK) according to an annoucement by the Tanzanian government made at the recent Karibu Tourism Trade Fair.

Regional flights from Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya will be able to use Arusha ariport which until now it was used solely for domestic flights, mostly to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, while Kilimanjaro International Airport was the only airport permitted to receive flights from abroad.

The move is seen as important for the tourism sector as it opens up a direct international route for tourists who wish to visit the national parks on the Northern safari circuit.
