In 2006 Africa registered the highest economic growth in 20 years, at 5.5 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), and this figure is set to increase to 6 per cent in 2007 according to a joint report by the African Development Bank (ADB) and the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
