Campaigning for elections ends in Ethiopia ahead of parliamentary and state council elections on 23 May.

29,170,867 people out of a total population of 85 million have registered to vote in the polls according to the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, around 3 million more than in the 2005 elections. Over one third of the electorate is in the southern Oromia region, which is home to Ethiopia
