The Addis Ababa-based subsidiary of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) has been contracted by the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise (EAE) to oversee a US$ 66.7 million expansion project at the Addis Ababa Bole Airport. The scheme involves the expansion and maintenance of the airport's existing runway and improvement of the new passenger terminal which over recent years has become regularly overcrowded due to increasing passenger numbers.

When the work is completed the aircraft parking area will have 42 aeroplane parking spaces, compared to its present 17. The airport will also be able to accommodate larger aircraft such as Boeing 747 and Boeing 777.
