For the third consecutive year, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) celebrates Flag Day, on 20 September 2010. The events of the day are centred around the laying of a founding stone of the newly established Flag Square in Addis Ababa, where the national and regional flags, along with that of the African Union, will fly together permanently.
Many of the day's events take place in Addis Ababa, in the presence of senior government officials. However celebrations are happening right around the country, including flag waving ceremonies and mass singing of the national anthem. In addition, panel discussions, parades and contests between high school students have been organised.
