The 2010 population and housing census will not be held in March as originally planned although it will still take place this year. No alternative date has been given, but the government has ruled out June and July due to the World Cup football tournament in South Africa, for which the Ghanaian national team has qualified, and the seasonal rains.

The head-count will take two weeks and cost an estimated $50 million. The questions will focus on Ghanaians
