Heads of state and representatives of the business community and civil society are to gather in Cape Towns smart new international convention centre 31 May-2 June for the World Economic Forum on Africa 2006 under the theme Going for Growth. This years summit has a special focus on the impact of China and India on Africa and the challenges involved in boosting physical and social infrastructure across the continent. Participants will also examine the positive developments resulting from the Year of Africa in 2005 as well as obstacles to future growth. In addition businesses are expected to launch a new partnership initiative aimed at tackling the root causes of hunger through the expansion of rural market systems, the dissemination of effective business models and micro-finance projects.
