Kenya has a smart new high commission in Dar es Salaam. The so-called Harambee Plaza building in the upmarket Oyster Bay area north of the central business district was formally opened by Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki during an official visit to Tanzania on 17 July. The Ksh420 million structure houses the high commission offices, the residence of the high commissioner and other offices.

Now the local media is reporting plans for a similar structure to be built in Nairobi to house the Tanzanian high commission, to be called Umoja House.
