International coffee conference in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa is hosting an international conference on coffee under the theme Ethiopian Coffee Export Conference: Strengthening the Legacy of Our Coffee, from 8 - 9 November.

The Ethiopian Coffee Exporters Association (ECEA) is expecting up to 250 representatives from the local and international coffee sector at the conference which is designed to boost Ethiopia's standing in the global coffee market.

The two-day event, which has the support of Ethiopia's trade ministry, is also aimed at addressing key opportunities and challenges facing the coffee sector.

The ECEA anticipate that future coffee exports from Ethiopia would increase by at least 25 per cent from the present level, generating foreign exchange earnings of over $1 billion.

Ethiopia is Africa’s top producer of coffee, and is the seventh biggest coffee producer in the world.
