Kenyans living abroad are the target of a conference in London on 9 December to promote investment opportunities in the East African country. The event, under the title Kenyans4kenya - The Kenya Diaspora Investment Forum 2006, has been organised by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Kenya High Commission in the United Kingdom and AfricaRecruit with participation from private and public sector institutions. Speakers include Kenyas minister of finance Amos Kimunya and representatives of the Nairobi Stock Exchange, Kenya Investment Promotion Authority and Kenya Private Sector Alliance.

The conference is born of the desire to harness the large amount of remittance money sent to Kenya by the Kenyan diaspora, co-ordinating investment to augment the countrys economic development, according to Julius Kaberere of the secretariat's governance and institutional development division. It will take place at the Congress Centre, Great Russell Street, London. For details see www.kenyans4kenya.com
