Lagos edition of Monopoly

The city of Lagos is launching its own edition of the world's most popular board game Monopoly on 11 December at City Hall in Lagos.

The game, which is based around the domination of the market through the acquisition of property, is produced by Bestman Games with the support of the Lagos state government and is being released in time for the Christmas market.

Organisers said that the Lagos government aims to use the game to “promote financial literacy and tourism", adding that “the million-dollar question on everyone’s lips is what Lagos landmark will make the Mayfair Square" – a reference to the most coveted real estate district in the London edition of the board game.

The Lagos version of the game is being introduced as the city – one of the world's fastest-growing –experiences a property boom.
