Lagos state government has awarded contracts for the construction or rehabilitation of 31 main roads across the state. Roads set to get an overhaul include Ago Palace Way and the road linking Yaba (Jibowu) to Iddo. Instead new roads and infrastructure will be built in Ojo, Ikorodu and Fagba Iju among other areas. Work is due to begin immediately to take advantage of the present dry season before the onset of the heavy seasonal rains in April. The project is part of broader plans to give Lagos special mega city status, which also include housing and landscaping projects and drainage works among other things.
