15 Tanzanian drivers are expected to sign on for the Kenol/Kobil Tanzanian Rally scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam on 19-21 February.

In the last two years only three Tanzanian nationals competed in the FIA (Federation Internationale de Automobile) African continental class rally. Instead this year three drivers are expected from Tanga, four from Arusha, three from Morogoro and five from Dar es Salaam.

The new enthusiasm is thanks to incentives from the Automobile Association of Tanzania, such as the exemption from club membership fees, 80 litres of free petrol and accommodation subsidies in Dar es Salaam for out-of-town drivers.

There are six FIA continental class rallies in Africa this year, beginning with the Kobil-sponsored Tanzania rally in mid-February.
