Major new technology park for Addis Ababa

Ethiopia is to build a $250 million technology park beside Bole International Airport in the south-east suburbs of Addis Ababa.

The Ethio ICT Park will be located on a 200-hectare site and is due for completion in 2016.

The knowledge facility has the backing of Ethiopia's communications and information technology ministry, and has been designed by Indian consulting firm WiPro IT.

The technology park will cater for both local and international companies, including China's ZTE and Techno Mobile and Security Innovation Network (SINET).

The facility will be divided into five separate zones: business, assembly and warehouse, commercial, administration, and knowledge.

In addition to its own road network, the park will have a convention centre, restaurants, medical facilities, financial services, and postal and banking services.
