Roll up, roll up: the circus is in town!

Mama Africa Circus, founded and directed by Winston Ruddle, a former acrobat from Zimbabwe, has set up its big top at the Arusha International Conference Centre club grounds near the Impala Hotel.

Sixty-five artistes from Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa and Zimbabwe engage the audience in over two hours of juggling, aerial and balancing acts, contortion tricks and music. Most of the performers trained at a special acrobatics school in Dar es Salaam founded by Ruddle and Tsendbyamba Erdenshoo in November 2003.

Mama Africa is due to run in Arusha until 25 November. The show has already enjoyed successful runs in Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Moshi. For information and details of ticket prices see the website.
