Nairobi hosts inaugural pan-African technology summit

Nairobi is hosting the inaugural DEMO Africa technology summit at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) from 24-26 October.

The event will provide 40 of the continent's most innovative technological start-up firms with a platform to present their products to a global audience of investors, corporate companies and the media.

The 40 exhibiting firms were originally among 500 companies who battled it out to be selected by a pan-African panel of judges including entrepreneurs, investors and academics.

The 40 companies cover five categories: social media, cloud services, mobile, and consumer and enterprise technologies. The countries best represented are South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria, while other nations include Cameroon, Senegal, Egypt, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

The event is supported by Kenya’s ministry of information and communication as well as major technological companies Nokia and Microsoft.
