Nigeria now has its own 24-hour news channel, taking to four the number of all-news services broadcasting in sub-Saharan Africa. The others are the state-owned Sabc News International and the privately run eNews Channel and Cnbc Africa, all of which are based in South Africa.

NetworkNews24 (NN24) went on air at midnight on 2 May on channel 414 of the DStv satellite platform. Based in Lagos, the station has an affiliate partnership with CNN International, a news content deal with Reuters and an advertising deal with Mediacom. Local news is provided by a network of journalists based in Lagos, Abuja and other major cities across the country.

NN24 is encouraging feedback from viewers via SMS to 33325, email to info@nn24.tv or on Facebook.
