A new specialist cardiology centre offering heart surgery and medical training is to be built in Dar es Salaam. The centre, which is still at the design stage, will be located at the Muhimbili National Hospital, the largest state-run hospital in the country. It will occupy five floors, have two operating theatres and accommodate up to 100 patients at a time. It will be built by the Chinese government under the terms of a cooperation agreement that will see Chinese assistance in a number of construction projects across the country. These include the creation of an international conference centre at Salender Bridge in Dar es Salaam and the construction of roads and schools.
