New cargo terminal at Addis Ababa airport

A new cargo terminal has opened at Addis Ababa airport, cementing the rise of Ethiopian Airlines as Africa's largest and fastest growing airline.

Together with the airport's existing freight terminal, Cargo Terminal II will be able to handle around 1 million tons of cargo annually, putting Addis Ababa in the same league as major interntional cargo terminals in Amsterdam Schiphol, Singapore Changi, and Hong Kong.

The 150,000-sqm facility includes a dry cargo warehouse, a perishable cargo terminal, elevating transport vehicle technology and space for five additional large cargo aircraft.

The new terminal is also equipped with temperature controls to faciliate the processing of sensitive products such as food and medicines.
