New conference centre for Dar es Salaam.

A new state-of-the-art conference centre is under construction as part of the ongoing Milimani City development project near the University of Dar es Salaam. The facility will be able to accommodate 2,000 people and should be finished by the end of this year. This phase of the multi-billion shilling development on Sam Nujoma Road also includes the construction of residential accommodation, offices, a hotel and other facilities such as swimming pools. The first phase of the project saw the construction of Milimani City shopping centre, allegedly the largest shopping mall in east Africa, which opened to the public in 2006. The entire project is estimated to cost US$17 million.
