New schools and libraries are to be built in the eastern sub-city of Akaki-Kaliti as part of a major development project benefiting youth, the local authorities have said. Plans also include creating four youth centres, five football fields, one volleyball and one basketball court in various sites across the district. The project, which is to be executed over the coming months at a cost of roughly 19 million birr, follows a similar initiative in the Kolfe-Keranyo sub-city in western Addis Ababa, where work on a multi-purpose youth centre got underway in November.
