The one-stop border post (OSBP) at Lebombo-Ressano Garcia on the Mozambique-South Africa boundary is to be ready for the start of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa in June, the general director of Mozambican customs, Domingos Tivane, has said.

The announcement came at the start of work on two key components of the project: a 1.3 km access road and the construction of over 50 homes for families who have been displaced by the works.

The new border post is designed to promote the faster movement of goods between the two southern African countries and to and from Maputo port. Currently people and goods have to clear customs on both sides of the border. The project has included the construction of a new passenger terminal, a health post and a police station.
