The West Africa Cable System (WACS), the largest capacity submarine cable on the west coast of the Africa continent, has landed in Ghana. Providing 5.12 terabytes per second, the move will offer a significantly increased network capacity for subscribers to the Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) which has invested some $90 million in the scheme.

WACS will enable seamless connectivity between southern and western Africa countries and the rest of the world and represents a huge technological leap forward for Ghana. In addition to greater capacity, the network will provide a high speed service to meet Africa
