Not sure what number to dial in Ethiopia under the new nationwide telephone numbering system? Help is at hand in the form of an easy-to-use on-line conversion programme at the address www.ethioindex.com/convert. Simply select the area code, type in the old number and press to convert and the new number, complete with international dialling code, will appear in the space below. Under the new numbering system, introduced in September 2005 to accommodate growing demand for landlines in the country, telephone numbers have increased from six to seven digits and area codes from two to three. The area code for Addis Ababa has changed from 01 to 011.
