The national electoral commission has announced a new voter registration campaign in March for general elections later this year. The initiative follows an initial drive in August-September last year, during which 1.5 million new voters signed up. The exercise is scheduled to begin on 1 March and last for 30 days providing that the necessary funding is forthcoming. So far the government has pledged Ksh900 million for the exercise, while electoral officials are demanding Ksh1.2 billion
