Maputo is to get a new wholesale food market in the outlying suburb of Zimpeto in the northern part of the capital, the state news agency reports. Built at a cost of $900,000, the six-hectare facility is due to open towards the middle of May. It has space for 112 stalls and 84 trailer trucks and offers better services and facilities than the existing market in the Malanga neighbourhood, which is scheduled for closure. Located on a main road leading north out of the capital, it is hoped that the new structure will stimulate farming activities in the area close to Maputo.
