Polling in the 21 April presidential and national assembly elections is to begin at 10.00 local time rather than at 08.00 as originally stated due to the late arrival of the ballot papers, the head of the national electoral commission has said.

The ballot papers have had to be reprinted due to last-minute changes to the list of presidential candidates after the supreme court ruled that vice president and candidate of the opposition party Action Congress (AC) Atiku Abubakar could stand for election. He had earlier been excluded from the list due to corruption charges, which he claimed were politically motivated.

The new ballot papers show the party symbols but not the candidates
