Oil field discovered in Kenya

26 March. The Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki has announced the discovery of an oil field in Turkana, a county in the northwestern area of the country. The oil was found at a depth of around 800 meters.  President Kibaki  also stated that this discovery could make Kenya one of Africa’s '' major'' oil producers.

The discovery  was made by the British Tullow Oil company.
