Porsche launches dealership in Lagos

German luxury sports car-maker Porsche launched a car dealership in the affluent Victoria Island district of Lagos mid March.

During the inauguration party, the latest 911 sports coupe model was unveiled at Porsche Centre Lagos. The company has been in operation in Lagos since last July and, although it did not disclose the number of cars it had sold since then, it estimates that 200 Nigerians own Porsches.

It hopes to sell 100 cars this year while its long-term target is to sell about 300 annually. Current prices for Porsches in Nigeria range from 21 million naira (€100,000) to 30 million naira (€143,000).

Porsche is also planning to establish a sales base in the Nigerian capital Abuja. Other luxury car dealerships with bases in Nigeria are Italy's Lamborghini and Britain's Aston Martin.
