Opposition to the proposed road through the Serengeti to connect Lake Victoria to Arusha is growing and possible suggestions for another route are now being studied.

According to eturbonews, a usually well-informed website for the tourist industry, studies are being prepared to illustrate the effect the road would have on the migration of elephants, wildebeest and zebra.

There is now a protest site on Facebook, Stop the Serengeti Highway, with over 4,000 opponents already registered.
