Tanzania as a tourist destination for American travellers is the focus of a two-part seminar to be run in Dar es Salaam and Arusha in mid-January 2012.

The main focus of the seminars is how to market Tanzania to a wider section of the United States travel market. The event is being organised by both the state-controlled Tanzania Tourist Board and the Tanzania Confederation of Tourism which represents the private sector.

Possible new sections on which to focus are the luxury market, pensioners and faith pilgrims.

In a recent feature in the travel section of The New York Times Tanzania was placed seventh on a list of 45 selected destinations for 2012, immediately after Tokyo and before Patagonian Chile.
