Tourism and Hospitality Week in Addis Ababa
The inaugural Tourism and Hospitality Week is to be held in Addis Ababa by the Catering and Tourism Training Institute (CTTI) under the aegis of the ministry of culture and tourism.
The three-day event, which is set to become an annual fixture, begins on 21 May and will include a number of initiatives including panel discussions and an exhibition promoting Ethiopia’s hospitality sector.
Organisers say the event is designed to promote awareness among the public about the nation's growing tourism industry, as well as educating its students about issues affecting the sector globally, such as sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.
The event takes place at the institute’s base at the Guenet Hotel at Mexico Square in central Addis Ababa, and is aimed at CTTI students, tour and travel companies, hotels, regional tourism offices, and governmental and non-governmental organisations.
The CTTI was established in 1969 and has 1,700 students enrolled in its current academic year.
