Nigeria may be stripped of its right to host the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) under-17s world cup from 24 October to 15 November this year due to serious delays in preparations. FIFA vice-president Jack Warner said after an inspection in late May that only two of the six proposed venues, in Lagos and Abuja, are close to being ready for the competition. The others are in Kano, Calabar, Enugu and Ijebu Ode.

Warner has said he will ask the FIFA executive committee to give the country a one-month grace period to improve the facilities, to be followed by another inspection; if
