Ultra-modern private hospital for Dar es Salaam
The Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in Dar es Salaam is to build an eight-storey first class hospital for specialist private treatment, according to the country's health minister Hadji Mponda.
The hospital's funding will come from the government and other private investors. It is projected to cost some €18 million, with €13 million designated for construction and about €5 million for medical equipment.
Mponda made it clear that in addition to providing patients with specialist services, the hospital is an exercise to boost the "insufficient budget" of the health ministry and its institutions.
The MNH, which is linked to the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Dar es Salaam, was established in 2000.
