Water restrictions in Cape Town

Cape Town residents encouraged to conserve water.

Cape Town's new “Level Three” water restriction regulations came into effect from 1 November and remain in operation until further notice.

The level three restrictions, which are triggered when dam levels become critically low, include a ban on portable swimming pools, car washing, and the use of sprinklers and garden hoses during day time.

The city advises residents to conserve water and to report any breach of the water restrictions.

In addition Cape Town's water pressure will be reduced to lessen underground leaks.

A full list of the water restrictions can be found on the city's website.
