Plans to build a second international conference centre in Arusha have been given a boost following presentation of the final feasibility study report. The Tsh122 billion facility, to be called the Kilimanjaro International Convention Centre, will be built on a 21 hectare plot owned by the existing Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) in the Njiro district south west of the city centre. It will have a multi-purpose hall accommodating up to 7,500 people, an auditorium seating 2,500 and a four-star hotel sleeping 250 guests. If all goes to plan it should be ready in a few years.

There is also a project to build a similar facility in Dar es Salaam as part of efforts to meet the demand for international and regional conference tourism in the country.
