The World Bank has donated $79 million to support primary and secondary schooling, professional education, teacher training, higher education, school health and institutional development in Mozambique. The donation will fund the "Education for Everybody" initiative of the ministry of education and culture, which aims to develop the education sector by the end of 2010 through cooperation with international partners. Besides the World Bank, the ministry has received support from Canada, Holland, Ireland, Finland, Germany, Britain, Portugal, Spain and UNICEF to a total of $132 million in 2008. This is almost double the amount invested in education in the year 2007 ($71 million).
