Mozambique is considering setting up transit centres for thousands of refugees seeking shelter from violence in neighbouring Zimbabwe, Goncalves Sengo, head of the national refugee assistance institution, has said. The centres will be set up in the northern and central provinces which border Zimbabwe and will allow immigration officials to better establish whether migrants meet the criteria for political asylum on the grounds of persecution or the threat of persecution in their home country.
