5th Ethnomusicology Symposium

21-23 July 2011. The Department of Fine and Performing Arts of University of Dar es Salaam organizes the 5th annual Ethnomusicology symposium. This event will focus the study of African music traditions as part of the cultures that use these traditions.

On display will be academic papers by scholars from Tanzania and many other countries of east, central and southern Africa, as well as from Europe, Asia and America. On this occasion the world famous 90 years old Ghanaian scholar and musician Prof. J.H. Kwabena Nketia will expose his theory on African music traditions.
