Abdel-Moneim Kamel choreography festival

Choreographies by the dancers of the Cairo Opera ballet company. The festival is based on an interdisciplinary approach to the roles of choreographer, dancer and teacher/trainer and is designed to give dancers an insight into the work of choreography.

It should have taken place last year but was postponed because of the death of Abdel-Moneim Kamel, the chairperson of the Cairo Opera and creator of the Cairo opera ballet company.

Some of the works have already been tested at a pre-festival earlier this year at the Al Gomhoreya theatre, organised by the Cairo Opera ballet company’s artistic director Erminia Kamel. They cover narratives based on well-known literary subjects, as well as purely thematic topics such as Destiny, the Unknown and the Exit.
