Accra to host solar conference

A two-day conference on solar energy titled “Solar West Africa 12” takes place in Accra from 4 - 6 April.

The forum’s participants are expected to include government ministries, agencies, non-governmental organisations, regulatory authorities, investors and financial institutions, manufacturers and contractors.

Topics up for discussion include the implementation of solar strategies in Ghana. The country's energy ministry said it was keen to explore the potential of harnessing solar energy to power the 40 per cent of its population, mostly in the northerly regions, who are not connected to the national grid.

A number of international specialists will present their views on the financing of major projects and the sourcing of high and low tech solar solutions.

The event takes place at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
