Addis Ababa electric power show

20-24 Jan 2010. This is the first ever trade fair in Addis Ababa dedicated to electric power production and supply. It will bring together representatives of the public and private sectors and universities and technical colleges to share information and ideas about how to optimise electric power.

Ethiopia is suffering from a severe power shortage due to rapid growth in demand. The governemnt hopes to mitigate the shortfall with a number of ambitious hydroelectric power projects and there are also plans to build a wind farm in the northern Tigray region.
