26 April 2006. The acclaimed Beninese singer-songwriter makes her first appearance in Kenya at Carnivore restaurant. Born in Ouidah in 1960, Kidjo left Benin for Paris in 1982. There she performed as a backup singer in local groups before forming her own band, going on to become one of the most popular live performers in the French capital. She sings in numerous languages including English, Fon, French, Yoruba and Swahili and often uses her countrys traditional blues-like Zilin vocal techniques and jazz vocalese. Her music is influenced by Afropop, Caribbean zouk, Congolese rumba, jazz, gospel and Latin styles. 20.30. Ksh 1,000.
