Baxter Theatre Dance Festival

Emerging and established South African choreographers and dance companies present their work.

Over 30 companies, including some school groups, perform over the 10-day period. There are three sections: the main programme (9-18 Oct) for professional companies and choreographers; the off-main programme (11 Oct) for up-and-coming choreographers including students; the fringe programme (18 Oct) for youth groups, dance schools, school and traditional dance.

There is one commissioned work Mode by the Underground Dance Theatre, choreography by Thalia Laric and Steven van Wyk.

The dance collective Underground Dance Theatre explores new possibilities in physical theatre, contemporary dance and dance theatre.

It uses a collaborative approach to choreography in its search for new expressions in South African dance.
