31 March 2011. This public reading focuses on the autobiography by Dr. Auma Obama, sister of the 44th President of the USA, Barack Obama. This book, entitled Das Leben kommt immer dazwischen (Life comes always in between), was written in German and has been recently launched in Germany.

Dr. Auma Obama left Kenya for Germany as a young girl and lived there for 16 years. She studied German at the University of Heidelberg, Film Production at the German Film and TV Academy in Berlin and later she also graduated at the University of Bayreuth, where she awarded her a PhD in 1996. She later moved to England and traveled to the USA, where she followed the rising fame of her brother. In 2007 she returned to Kenya, where she currently works and lives. Her book retraces the path of her life between different worlds and cultures with a special focus on the development of her African identity. Furthermore, she tells the history of the Obama family in Kenya, starting with the life of her father Barrack Hussein Obama.
